Why this job – CONTROLLER:

An exciting opportunity awaits to join an iconic, Boulder-born CPG brand as their new Controller. In this key leadership role, you will own the day-to-day accounting, financial management, and reporting. Partnering closely with the CFO, CEO, and cross-functional teams in sales, marketing, and operations, you'll play a crucial role in building scalable processes and supporting high-growth ambitions. This is a unique chance to make a meaningful impact, work directly with a seasoned leadership team (including the founder and former CEO), and help shape the next chapter of a profitable, consumer-loved brand.


What You'll Actually Do:

  • Own and lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely, accurate financials, and overseeing the review and preparation of general ledger entries for a newly carved-out CPG/food business
  • Prepare and deliver financial statements and management reports, including those required by the private equity ownership group and other investors
  • Analyze balance sheet and profit and loss accounts, review reconciliations, and proactively identify trends, issues, and opportunities across sales, marketing, and operations
  • Leverage strong Excel and financial analysis skills to support forecasting, scenario analysis, and decision-making in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Serve as a key thought partner to the CFO and executive team, providing clear, practical financial guidance and participating in open, collaborative discussions on business issues
  • Build and manage day-to-day accounting operations as the in-house lead, coordinating closely with an outsourced accounting firm while overseeing general ledger management, internal controls, external audits, account reconciliations, and cash management
  • Help manage critical external relationships, including the outsourced accounting team, banking partners, and select vendors/customers
  • Play an active role in standing up and optimizing a new NetSuite ERP environment and broader finance tech stack, helping to shape processes, controls, and reporting from the ground up


To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Approximately 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, CPG or consumer-facing products is a must
  • Hands-on experience in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, preferably within small to mid-sized or carve-out businesses
  • Strong GAAP knowledge with proven experience owning and improving the month-end close and core accounting processes
  • Comfort working with ERP systems; NetSuite and/or ERP implementation experience is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and solid analytical capabilities, including comfort building and interpreting models and reports
  • Proven ability to operate independently with strong initiative, sound judgment, and a practical, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Highly collaborative, strong communicator who is comfortable debating ideas, partnering across functions, and influencing senior leadership
  • Ability to thrive amid ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving structures as the organization scales
  • Entrepreneurial, growth-minded attitude with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and take on ad-hoc projects outside a narrow job description


Where and How Much:

  • Target Compensation up to $150K DOE + bonus potential + equity
