Why this job – ACCOUNTING MANAGER:
An exciting opportunity awaits to join a small construction firm as their new Accounting Manager. In this hands-on role, you'll take ownership of day-to-day accounting and the billing cycle in a fast-paced construction environment. You’ll drive accurate invoicing, tight work-in-progress tracking, and strong cash flow management. Working closely with ownership, you'll help bring more structure to the finance function by documenting and streamlining AR/AP processes, and producing clear, reliable reporting from QuickBooks. This is a high-autonomy position for someone who can bring clarity, practicality, and construction accounting know-how to a team that's ready to level up its processes without overcomplicating how the business runs.
What You'll Actually Do:
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Own customer invoicing from start to finish, including billing for change orders
- Track and manage lien waivers and other job billing requirements
- Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and project status on an ongoing basis
- Maintain strong accounts receivable follow-up with general contractors and customers
- Coordinate and process weekly payroll
- Support sales tax tracking and reporting needs
- Ensure subcontractor/vendor invoices are received and recorded in a timely manner
- Build and maintain clear, accurate Excel-based tracking tools
- Work in QuickBooks Online to manage day-to-day accounting activities and produce practical, reliable reports
- Review, document, and streamline A/R and A/P processes
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- 5+ years of construction accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with lien waivers and other job billing compliance requirements
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong Excel skills
- Comfortable working with constructions platforms
- Experience monitoring Work In Progress (WIP)
- A process-improvement mindset
- Strong discretion and professionalism
- Clear communicator who can translate accounting details to leaders
Where and How Much:
- $100,000–$125,000 base salary
- In-office, Arvada, CO
