What's Awesome About Our Client?

  • Join a category-leading, purpose-driven food company born right here in Boulder, known for its incredible culture and modern approach to pantry staples.
  • This is a rare "clean slate" opportunity. Following a recent business spin-off, you will help transition operations from an outsourced firm to a high-powered, in-house team.
  • Real equity ownership. You will receive equity participation, allowing you to directly share in the financial upside and growth of the business.
  • High-visibility mentorship. Work directly alongside a sharp, newly hired Controller who is fully committed to helping you elevate your strategic accounting and leadership skills.

Why this job – ACCOUNTING MANAGER:

This newly created role is tailor-made for a hungry Senior Accountant ready to step up, or an established Manager who thrives in a dynamic, "build-it" environment rather than a rigid corporate structure. As the Controller's right hand, you will own the day-to-day accounting operations and lead the charge in establishing robust internal processes for a business that is actively shipping and invoicing. If you want a role where you can see the immediate, measurable impact of your work every single day—while enjoying a collaborative, mission-driven Boulder culture—this is the perfect career move.

What You'll Actually Do:

  • Lead and elevate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Partner with the Controller to design and implement robust standard operating procedures, with a heavy initial focus on mastering the AR trade deduction and revenue recognition processes.
  • Navigate and optimize a newly established NetSuite ERP system to drive automation and eliminate reliance on outsourced providers.
  • Act as a cross-functional resource, collaborating with operations and sales leadership to provide business-driving financial insights.
  • Support, mentor, and gradually take over the management of a newly hired Staff Accountant as the team scales.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Proven experience running or holding substantial responsibility for a month-end close process for at least one year.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a self-starter mindset to build workflows where they don't yet exist.
  • Background in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) or retail industry is highly preferred
  • NetSuite experience and a CPA license are both major pluses.
  • Comfort with a collaborative, in-office presence (3+ days per week, with more in-office time initially during onboarding).

Where and How Much:

  • Target Compensation: $110K – $115K + 10% Target Bonus + Equity Participation.
  • Hybrid schedule (3+ days in-office).
  • Boulder, CO (includes paid parking)
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement benefits package.
