WHY THIS JOB: COMMERICAL SUPERINTENDENT
A well-established Montana contractor is adding a Commercial Superintendent to support continued growth. This role plays a critical part in day-to-day execution, ensuring projects are run safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing field operations on commercial construction projects, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and in-house crews. You’ll serve as the primary on-site leader, setting expectations and keeping work moving forward.
The position covers ground-up commercial buildings, boutique hotels, and tenant improvement projects, with job sizes typically ranging from smaller commercial scopes up through multi-million-dollar builds. Projects are generally local, allowing for consistency and minimal travel disruption.
Day to day, you’ll stay actively involved in the field: leading crews, coordinating subcontractors, managing safety and quality, and handling the administrative responsibilities that keep jobs running smoothly. What You’ll Actually Do:
- Take full ownership of day-to-day jobsite operations on commercial construction projects
- Lead and coordinate in-house crews and subcontractors to maintain schedule and quality
- Maintain jobsite safety standards, daily logs, and regular safety meetings
- Work closely with the Project Manager to plan and execute project schedules
- Review plans, identify conflicts, and help resolve field questions and RFIs
- Track labor timecards and support accurate job cost reporting
- Coordinate inspections, site logistics, and material deliveries
- Communicate regularly with architects, inspectors, and client representatives
- Maintain quality control across all phases of construction
- Adapt communication style to work effectively with a wide range of trade partners
- Occasionally support hands-on field work when needed and appropriate
- Represent the company professionally on the jobsite and with project partners
- Help reinforce company standards, culture, and expectations in the field
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- 10+ years of commercial construction field experience
- Ground-up commercial and tenant improvement project exposure
- Strong plan reading and jobsite coordination skills
- Comfort using project management tools such as Procore or similar platforms
- Ability to lead crews, manage subcontractors, and resolve issues calmly
- Strong communication skills across office and field teams
- Solutions-oriented approach to leadership
Where and How Much:
Based in Helena, MT; limited travel to project sites as needed
Pay: $32-55/hour DOE + discretionary bonus ($8k-13k)
