Why this job – ACCOUNTING MANAGER:

Join this rapidly growing Construction company as their Accounting Manager to act as the leadership team's and CFO’s right hand. This role is designed for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, "build-it" environment rather than a rigid, corporate structure. You will bridge the gap between field operations and corporate finance, directly managing a small accounting operations team while overseeing job costing accuracy and the monthly close process. If you are a motivated professional who wants to expand your leadership footprint, drive workflow efficiencies, and enjoy a relaxed culture, this is the perfect career move.

What You'll Actually Do:

  • Manage the full-cycle monthly close process in direct partnership with the CFO, including preparing standard entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Supervise and coach a small accounting operations team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing Specialists—prioritizing workflows and ensuring cross-training.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on job costing data, partnering with operations and division managers to improve cost accuracy, timely recognition, and explain department variances.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring proper documentation, internal controls, and precise account coding.
  • Coordinate payroll processing and related filings alongside HR and third-party providers, while managing local compliance such as sales/use tax reporting.
  • Support process and system optimization, bridging operational data with accounting systems to maintain a "single source of truth" for the executive team.

To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent progressive experience).
  • 3 to 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with proven ownership of the month-end close and account reconciliations.
  • Strong working knowledge of full-cycle accounting, including A/P, A/R, payroll coordination, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience in project-based environments—exposure to construction, landscaping, field services, or job-costing industries is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or leading administrative or accounting staff is required.
  • Tech-savvy mindset with proficiency in Excel, accounting platforms; experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a benefit.
  • Maintains a collaborative, problem-solving approach with excellent communication skills to translate financial data for non-finance partners.

Where and How Much:

  • Target Compensation: $90K to $110K. 10%+ potential bonus
  • In-Office, Aurora, CO
  • Benefits: 3 weeks PTO, 401(k), Medical
