Why this job – ACCOUNTING MANAGER:
This is an exciting opportunity with a growing construction-focused organization. In this highly visible role, you will lead a team responsible for project accounting activities tied to production work, with a strong emphasis on WIP review, revenue recognition, billing, collections, and team development. Partnering closely with the Controller, you will help strengthen monthly reporting accuracy, support branch financial performance, and bring consistency to processes across the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys mentoring others, improving workflows, and contributing to a company that is actively building toward more standardized and scalable operations.
What You'll Actually Do:

Manage and develop a team of Project Accountants, including coaching, training, performance support, and day-to-day guidance across both local and remote team members

Oversee monthly WIP review processes by consolidating project-level data, evaluating percentage of completion, identifying red flags, and supporting accurate revenue recognition decisions

Partner with branch and operations leaders to review project outcomes, discuss financial performance, and ensure accounting treatment aligns with project activity

Review billing, collections, and cash application activity related to production projects, helping drive timely invoicing and cash coming into the business

Support project setup and ongoing administration, including client billing requirements, bond requests, certificates of insurance, lien-related documentation, and related construction accounting workflows

Analyze direct project costs and gross profit trends to help improve monthly P&L accuracy and provide stronger financial visibility to leadership

Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries tied to WIP adjustments and monthly close support

Use NetSuite and Excel tools to manage reporting, organize data, and improve the consistency and reliability of accounting processes
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- 7+ years of construction accounting experience

Strong WIP and percentage-of-completion experience, with the ability to identify issues, ask the right questions, and understand revenue recognition impacts

4+ years management experience, with a proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members

Solid accounting foundation, including comfort with journal entries, financial review, and the practical application of core accounting principles

Strong Excel skills (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs)
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and operate in a fast-moving environment

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially when partnering with operations teams and supporting both in-office and remote staff
Where and How Much:
- Target compensation: $115K to $130K + 10% bonus
- 100% In-Office, Englewood, CO
